Review: Clue - The App Every Woman Needs

May 22, 2017

Hey guys,
One of my favourite health apps on my phone is Clue. Clue tracks your periods and fertility using 'machine learning technology' and 'scientific research'.  Throughout high school I used to underline the date on my wall calendar I started and finished to help me keep track. However, it was such a hassle so when I seen this for free on the App Store I decided to try it out. It was such a god send!

The app offers users personalised information about their cycle and allow the users to update the calendar depending on certain things such as; symptoms, mood, sleep, energy. The creators of the app have recently just updated it so it has a lot more content including letting the users update their; mental state, motivation, social state, party lifestyle, exercises, medication taken section, digestion, hair and skin types, and whether you have cravings or not. It also allows the user to put in the method of protection from sex they use (pill, iud, injections, patch and ring), whether the user uses sanitary towels, cups or tampons and whether any pregnancy or ovulation tests have been taken and if they have shown positive or negative.
I find this app easy to use and normally fill it in every morning when I wake up as everyone spends at least 10-15 minutes on their phones when they wake up checking their social media. When your on your period it allows you input how heavy your flow is during the week and what kind of pain you suffer with (cramps, headache, ovulation or tender breasts.) I also like how the app automatically fills in the next 3 months for you so you can have a look to see when you are supposed to be due on, your PMS and your ovulation days. You can set notifications for the app so it allows you to know when you are about to come on so you are fully prepared. I think this app is more useful compared to just underlining the dates on my wall calendar.
The app launched in 2013 and during summer  2016 it has reached estimably 1 million users. However, this dramatically increased to 5 million users in 190 countries. It is highlighted to be one of the fastest growing female health apps around.
